"I remember first seeing my son (27weeker 2lbs 4ozs) feeling so helpless!! Tears come to my eyes, just reliving the first sight of my frail but strong son. Instantly knowing I have to be strong for you. On a side note, also the moment when I know I could never hunt ever again. My son "legion" named after the French legionares. I knew he needed a strong name. I gave him all my love and good vibes. He spent 2 months in NICU, the 2 hardest months of my life; even harder then airborne school for me. Looking at him today, he's a happy, healthy near 3yr old. I'm still in awe of how strong my son is, as we celebrate his every achievement. He made me a better person!!"I think all parents of preemies can attest to the fact that the accomplishments and achievements of their preemies are events to be celebrated! I also really like that he said he needed to be strong for his son. This is a Fatherly instinct: Protection. This instinct is also one of the most difficult things to deal with as a preemie dad - needing to be strong and protect, accompanied with Helplessness.
