Note: This post is my official submission to the DadsTalking $100 date night giveaway, where one dad will receive $100 to take their wife out on a date! Since I am a strong advocate of dating your wife, I thought I would join in on the fun (and maybe get a free date out of it!).
Update: I won! I won! looking forward to making this date a reality very soon!!
Why we deserve the $100 Date Night-
I try to date my wife every week. So my need is not based on a lack of dates, though our definition of a date may be different than others. A "date" to us means spending quality time together whether it is making dinner, watching a movie on the couch, or your more traditional dinner and a movie; and since we been more strapped for money recently we've mostly done the "at-home after our son is in bed" variety.
As many of you are aware, 2 years ago my wife gave birth to our son 10 weeks early due to a uterine anomaly and placental abruption. You may also be aware that she is pregnant and has had and will continue to have a complicated pregnancy and will not carry the baby past 32-34 weeks (due to said anomaly). Why do I bring this up? Because sometime in October she will be put on bed rest (approx. 24 weeks gestation). My wife deserves one last extravagant date before she (we) heads down the road of bedrest, c-section, and weeks in the NICU; a kind of date we used to go on before we were married. In addition, we typically celebrate our birthdays together (they are a week apart and fast approaching) so this date would also be a birthday celebration!
The Date-
Something that we have wanted to do for a long time is an Argosy dinner cruise on Puget Sound. Not only does this sound romantic, but also delicious! This would typically be much more than $100, but I just found a buy-one get-one free coupon! Tickets are $69.95 (a window seat is an extra $7.50/person, which seems like a necessity) so after taxes and fees, there's the $100! There's dinner, dancing, and 3 hours of "spectacular, ever-changing views of the city skyline, gorgeous scenery and scenic islands as you cruise on Elliott Bay and Puget Sound."
