I've always liked Matt Hasselbeck, but a few days ago I found another reason to like him. Not only like him, but I truly admire him now. Here's why...I was listening to local Sports Talk radio here in seattle and they were talking about Hasselbeck's involvement with XXXChurch and National Porn Sunday. So, I did a little more research and found this CNN Article which goes into more detail about it.
The XXXChurch is described as "Christian group that... helps people battling pornography addictions." They are the organizing National Porn Sunday. As you may already know, Sunday is also Super Bowl Sunday. XXXChurch is planning on using the Super Bowl as a "way to get churches around the country talking about pornography." To do this, professional football players were recruited to be a part of the video that will be broadcast to over 300 churches nationwide.
I applaud this effort and I applaud Hasselbeck for standing up for what is right (or against what is wrong). Craig Gross, founder of XXXChurch called porography the "elephant in the pew," and I think he is right on.
The CNN article also mentions XXXChurch tracking software called X3watch. Hasselbeck himself uses this software and described it by saying:
“If I go to a site that’s questionable, a teammate gets an email and my wife gets an email...It just keeps you accountable,you know there’s a short term consequence to anything you do.”
I loved this last bit of wedded wisdom that Hasselbeck offered to CNN:
My email password is known to my wife, my voice mail password is known to her...I’m still a guy married to a girl. In this country what you read, what you watch, and how you interact with other women can cause insecurity with your spouse.”Amen, Mr. Hasselbeck, Amen - Now go get a contract signed with the Seahawks!
